The SEAW Scholarship Program opens for application toward the beginning of the calendar year. Current awards equal $5,000, but are determined officially by the SEAW Scholarship Committee. SEFW is committed to furthering the profession of structural engineering, and is eager to assist students in their structural engineering educational goals.
Current Scholarship Awards
Two Washington students were recognized with 2024 scholarship awards at the SEAW Spring Social. Congratulations to these students, who received SEAW scholarships.
Joshua Shin is receiving a $5000 SEAW scholarship award. Joshua received his Bachelor of Science in Civil engineering from the University of Washington in 2019 and recently his Master’s Program for Structural Engineering, also at UW. Upon receiving his undergraduate degree, Joshua worked various structural engineering firms in Seattle while staying involved in SEAW, ASCE and ACE Mentor Program. Joshua served as President of the SEAW student chapter as an undergrad. Growing up in the greater Seattle area, Joshua has a love of backpacking and bouldering.
Past Scholarship Recipients
Past scholarship recipients include a past SEFW Chair, several SEAW Engineer of the Year recipients, and many current SEAW members. Read more about past scholarship winners on our Student Spotlights page (TBD).
Additional Scholarship Opportunities
In addition to funding the annual SEAW Scholarship Program, SEFW is committed to supporting scholarships that increase learning for structural engineers and structural engineering students. SEFW has provided scholarships for younger structural engineers to cover registration fees or accommodations for professional development academic conferences like the NCSEA Structural Engineering Summit and the SEA Northwest Conference. SEFW is also a proud donor of the local ACE Mentor Program, fully funding $5,000 scholarships for students intending to study structural engineering at the university level.
